Rally for UNBSJ: King Square Sept. 17th
On September 17th 2007, the Student Representative Council held a public demonstration in King Square to voice their concerns of the Post Secondary Commission's Report. The Saint John Police Department estimated a crowd of 1500-1700. Traditionally, police have been known to count conservatively. Many people felt attendance was closer to 2000.
Monday's Q&A to be broadcasted on CFMH 92.5FM
Friday, September 21st
5:30PM - 7:00PM
Radio: 92.5FM CFMH, Campus Radio Saint Jonh
Online: www.unbsj.ca/cfmh
I will be postponing my regular radio show, The Roots of Rock, for a radio edition of CultureHub. I will be playing audio from Monday's Q&A session with Dr Miner and Mr. L'Ecuyer.
After reviewing the footage of Monday's events, I have decided not to post the Q&A with the two Commissioners as a video. I don't feel comfortable publishing anything without asking permission of those who appear in it. Nevertheless, I will eventually post video of the commissioners' opening.
Debut: Rally in support of UNBSJ
Culture Hub will make its debut with coverage of the rally in support of University of New Brunswick staying in Saint John. This peaceful protest takes place Monday September 17th at 1:00PM in King Square.
The original intention of this project was strictly to cover arts, culture and recreation in Saint John. The idea of a polytechnic institute replacing NBCC and UNBSJ is just so ridiculous that we cannot pass up this opportunity to speak up. Personally I am a proud volunteer, employee, and student at UNBSJ. As Dr Everitt pointed out on Wednesday, some may argue that the student body, faculty, and staff are reacting out of self interest. To us it is more than a means to a degree or an institute which pays our salary. It is our livelihood and passion which is at risk.
I cannot express how important this campus is to myself and others across the province. I encourage you to visit the websites below and witness the many people who are speaking out against this merger.
